Oracle Enterprise Metadata Management 12c aims to help organisations meet data governance and compliance issues whether information is stored on premises or in the cloud.

Oracle Enterprise Metadata Management 12c integrates with other Oracle products to help organisations govern their structured and unstructured data, whether that data is stored by Oracle or other vendors’ software.

Features include data lifecycle management across multiple platforms; the ability to harvest and integrate metadata from third-party business intelligence, data integration, and database technologies; and data governance, stewardship, and standardisation tools, including stewardship collaboration through feedback and comment review boards, multimedia attachments, annotations, and tagging.

When used in combination with Oracle Data Integrator, Enterprise Metadata Management 12c brings transparency to big data stores through support for technologies such as Apache Sqoop, Apache Hive, Apache HBase, and JavaScript Object Notation (JSON).
