The Bermuda Triangle of SAM

As a person who might be tasked with implementing a SAM programme, you might want a clue as to where to start. Problem remediation is an obvious target, as your SAM reports will only be as good as the underlying IT operations that they report on.

One area that is often overlooked is that of co-operation between departments, and this is what I like to call the Bermuda Triangle of SAM. Below is a scenario you might be able to relate to in part or in whole; either way, you will have targets to aim for to improve SAM operations:

*An employee within a company makes a request for the technology stack to underpin the major project he/she is charged with implementing. All they know is that they need a database at the back-end of this technology stack, and so they make a recommendation to the business to go ahead and purchase the necessary hardware and software.
